The Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame is accepting nominations to honour individuals who have made significant contributions to Alberta’s agriculture and agri-food industry.
READWe have been doing a lot of things in our club lately. On Jan. 22 we cleaned up the Last West Hall after the wild game supper. We also went with our club to play Lazer Tag in Red Deer.
READThe Winfield 4-H Gait Riders are now well into another fantastic year of 4-H. We are having our yearly public speaking in February. We are having monthly clinics with the trainer, Katie Roxburgh. The kids enjoy having different trainers teach them throughout the 4-H year.
READIt’s a brown winter in many parts of Alberta. The warmer than usual temperatures and lack of adequate snow cover also has its benefits for livestock producers but many may need a second plan of attack says Barry Yaremcio, Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development beef and forage specialist.
READThe Blindman Valley 4-H Beef Club started things off by headin’ out to the Wilson Farm to weigh their critters on Oct. 22. We have 15 members who will have show steers, carcass and heifer projects. With the clothes on our backs, we made our way up to Edmonton and experienced Farm Fair. We enjoyed walking around, looking at the different breeds of cattle, watching the Ranch Rodeo, and hitting up some of the 4-H activities that were set up for the day.
