The province of Alberta has proclaimed May 25 – 31, 2008 as Meals on Wheels Awareness Week. The Meals on Wheels program is coordinated through the Rimbey FCSS office and in the year 2007 volunteers delivered 2,263 meals to Rimbey residents.

Volunteers deliver hot, nutritious meals to the homes of seniors, persons with disabilities, and those recovering from illness. The meals are prepared at the Parkland Manor and delivered between 11:30 a.m. and noon, Monday through Friday. The Meals on Wheels service allows people to maintain good health and independence. Diabetic, low salt or other special diet meals are available. FCSS salutes our many Meals on Wheels drivers this week, and thank you sincerely for your time and effort in making this program a success. We appreciate the efforts of each of the dietary staff members at the Parkland Manor for being so willing to accommodate the Meals on Wheels program.

The visit by the volunteer is just as vitally important as the healthy meal. Volunteers bring bright smiles and friendly greetings while checking to make sure seniors are safe and well.

To inquire about meal service, call Rimbey FCSS at 843-2030. Our office is located in the Rimbey Provincial Building. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – noon and 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
