Wayne Tracy is the newest teacher to join the staff of the Rimbey Christian School and even though he’s spent many years abroad, he still feels right at home.

Born in Manning and raised in Leduc, Tracy attended the University of Alberta before heading overseas to work for a higher calling.

“I’ve worked overseas. My wife and I are missionaries and we were in South Korea for eight years and Japan for a year,” said Tracy who is in the process of furthering his education. “We’ve been back in Canada for three years now and I’ve started my Masters in Divinity and Inter-Cultural Missions at Taylor Seminary in Edmonton.”

Currently living in Blackfalds, Tracy will be teaching Grades 3 and 4 this year as well as a drama elective class at the Rimbey Jr./Sr. High School but this wont be his first tour of duty at the school as he was an intern and did some subbing there last year.

Prior to that, he covered a maternity leave and taught Grade 8 at the Lacombe Christian School.

“I really enjoyed it and it’s certainly great how things worked out so I’m pretty happy about coming here. I enjoyed the drive from Blackfalds up here and seeing buffalo on the side of the highway, so I’m really looking forward to being here and am very excited,” he said. “I’ve gotten to know the staff and some of the students so I feel like I belong and am part of a family here and that’s really good.”
