As the 76th Ponoka Stampede gets underway, organizers of the second Summer Send Off Music Festival are working behind the scenes to ensure a concert to remember.
Planned for Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 at the Stampede Grounds, this year’s lineup brings new entertainers and old ones too, said organizer Brian Halbert of Big Air Entertainment, which works in conjunction with the Stampede Association to make the concert possible. Global FMX stunt riders will return once more to wow attendees with their highflying tricks.
“I had more (positive) comments and feedback on those guys…every age group just loved them,” he stated.
The kick-off party begins at the Stagecoach Saloon with performer Julian Austin. Dean Brody, Doc Walker, and the Mavericks will perform on Saturday with Joe Nichols on Sunday evening.
Organizers added Sunday to the weekend performance as well as “planning more kids activities for this year.”
Much of the response received from attendees was positive, which Halbert attributes to proper planning and to the location. “You can’t get a better venue than that.”
He praised the Ponoka Stampede Association for their dedication.
“To be associated with them from our end is a nobrainer, it’s a win-win,” he stated.
