There’s lots of positive happenings going on in Rimbey.
The Rimbey Chamber of Commerce outdid themselves Thursday night with their awards gala.
The event was well run and provided a good mix of entertainment, socializing and, of course, the highlight of the evening, the awards, was exciting for both the winners and the crowd. The entertainment was local and gave the crowd a taste of how truly talented the Liberty Hall Players are.
The meal was worthy of mention also, as it truly was delicious.
The award winners certainly deserve recognition for their continued efforts to strive for excellence and provide the best service possible for their customers and the community as a whole.
It is commendable that these individuals and businesses work hard to provide the best service possible, not because of the possibility of being awarded, but because they are committed and dedicated individuals.
Businesses in Rimbey, as in other municipalities throughout Alberta, have certainly gone through down times and challenges. Being a business owner is not for the faint hearted, but requires a great deal of stamina and faith, and, most importantly, of course, customers.
‘Shop local’ is more than a slogan for small business owners. It is a way of life that needs to be followed so they can, in fact, survive. Residents, who regularly run into the city to frequent the big box stores need to remember the sacrifices made so they also have the options of slipping downtown to purchase groceries, gifts, clothing, appliances or hardware.
The chamber’s awards night was a significant way to recognize these people who work hard to keep the commercial sector of Rimbey alive and well. And, recognition also needs to be given to all the nominees for the awards. They, too, are part of the wheel of progress that keeps Rimbey moving forward.
And, last, but certainly not least, the recognition to volunteers and non-profit organizations was more than well deserved.
Good job!
Without people who give willingly of their time, energy and talents Rimbey would not be the progressive little community that it is.
Events such as the 2017 Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet help strengthen this community and serve as a reminder to each and everyone of its residents of the benefits of small town living.
