Dear Editor;

Further to my previous letter of June 17 re: Contributor suggests it’s time to move out Shoot-Out, I attended the Rimbey Town Council meeting on June 24 to present my concerns in greater depth. However, I was very disappointed at the outcome. Mr. Barr chose to focus mainly on the monetary aspect – I was there only because my business suffered due to the location of the Shoot-Out. There was absolutely no response to my other, even more important issues regarding the noise, pollution and possible dangers associated with having this event in the downtown area.

Also, when asked when it was going to be moved out to the racetrack, Mr. Barr avoided answering. Instead, I was treated to a rather impassioned monologue regarding all the dedicated volunteers who have contributed so much time and effort – as well as the personal sacrifices he has made in terms of family time, etc.

Well, that’s your choice Mr. Barr. I just wish that all this energy would go into something much more beneficial to the people you claim to support and represent. I also hope that you were sincere when you said that you would take my concerns into consideration.

Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely that my efforts will prevent the Shoot-Out from happening this year. However, I do not plan on ‘going away’ or keeping quiet about it any time soon. I still have a petition on the go and more letters to write.

I also plan on praying for heavy rain for the 12th of July!
