Great rodeo action in Rimbey on the weekend

The 2017 Rimbey local and CARA Rodeos were successful events with good crowds in attendance and lots of thrilling cowboy and cowgirl action.

“We were pleased,” said Hazel Street from the rodeo committee. “We had a good turnout (for both). It was hot, but a nice cool breeze helped.”

The local rodeo was held Friday night.

The winners of the relay race were AJ Neish and Gavin Vermette.

The wild cow milking was won by Joe Holtkamp and Cody Jeffrey. Erin Edge won the 10 and under barrel racing and Julia Holtkamp won the 11 to 15 barrel racing. The ladies barrel racing was won by Cheryl Makofka.

Tammy Maddox won the open barrel racing and Meghann Smawley and Darian Smawley won the tire race.

The winner of the fiat race was AJ Neish.

Joe Holtkamp, Cody Jeffrey and Martina Holtkamp won the cattle rustling.

Hailey Holtkamp, Julia Holtkamp and Davita Roseboom won the wild pony race.

The ladies cow riding winner at the CARA rodeo held Saturday and Sunday was Katy Praught from Stony Plain.

Kane Scott from Condor won the 12 and under steer riding and Dylan Conners from Bluffton won the 13 to 15 year-old steer riding.

Landon Warren from Big Valley was the winner of the 12 and under breakaway roping and Couy McBride from Ponoka won the 13 to 15 breakaway roping.

JoshCarothers from Ponoka won the tie down roping.

The winner of the 12 &under barrel racing was karlee Tetz from Didsbury and Jewel Pollock from Rocky Mountain House won the 13 to 15 barrel racing. Pollock also won the ladies barrel racing.

Sheldon Lange (Armenia) &Ed Wedman (Leduc County) won the team roping.

Jayme Vold from Hay Lakes won the bareback competition. The bull riding winner was Jordon Mitchell from Calgary.
