During the COVID-19 pandemic, you’ve made lifestyle changes by reducing or limiting contact with others to avoid potentially spreading the virus.
One of the mandated changes made to health care is to limit purchases of prescription drugs to 30 days’ supply at a time. That may sound concerning for patients accustomed to receiving three months’ supply at a time, but as Rimbey Pharmasave pharmacist/store operator Marcia Ziegler says, the move was made to prevent stockpiling and ensure everyone has access to much-needed medications.
“We’re assuring our patients that the overall supply of medications in Canada is quite good, and locally we are working hard to ensure everyone has a monthly supply,” she says.
Safety of all a key priority
To help keep the community healthy and customers and staff protected, Rimbey Pharmasave has enhanced its procedures at the store and pharmacy, limiting the number of customers in store to 10, and temporarily suspending returns and buying/cashing in lottery tickets. You’ll see markings on the floor to ensure social distancing, and the new hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays allow more time for cleaning.
At the pharmacy, a clear protective barrier helps minimize personal contact and keeps the counters clean. Other precautions include not taking returns, including used sharps containers or unwanted medications for disposal, and no reusing of vials either glass or plastic. “We want to keep you safe and also provide quality service. That includes taking measures to keep our staff healthy,” Marcia says. If you have a fever, cough or are having trouble breathing, call the pharmacy at
Call your prescriptions in
Rimbey Pharmasave’s prescription filling program, SIMPL, allows pharmacy staff to keep on top of ordering medications, by flagging your file to ensure refills and SIMPL books and pods are done ahead of time, and to minimize your time in the store. You can also download the eCare@Pharmasave app on your mobile device to order your medication. Ask about these options when calling in your prescription order.
Let us do your shopping
The staff at Pharmasave is happy to help you shop for Easter and make up gift baskets and any other front store items to minimize the risk of leaving your home.
Convenient delivery methods
Rimbey Pharmasave has always had FREE in-town delivery available for pharmacy patients. In the COVID-19 environment, that free option is a lifeline for patients in isolation or quarantine at home and has been expanded to a 50-kilometre radius for call-in orders. And if you’re out and about, or are picking up for someone in isolation, ask about curbside pickup! Both are convenient ways to reduce contact, Marcia says.
Patience from patients appreciated
Marcia and her team thank community members for their patience and understanding at this challenging and extraordinary time. “As we like to say, our focus is your wellness and it continues to be. We will get through this together.”
