Council donates to Lions Club, Chamber and Outreach school

Rimbey town council has agreed to cut checks to some local organizations and also donate to the West Country Outreach

Rimbey town council has agreed to cut checks to some local organizations and also donate to the West Country Outreach Awards and Graduation banquet.

At its Monday meeting, council agreed to contribute $500 to the Rimbey Lions Club for their annual pancake breakfast which serves approximately 350 people.

“I see no reason why we wouldn’t give them $500,” said Mayor Rick Pankiw. “The Lions do a lot of amazing things for the community.”

Council also agreed to assist Rimbey Chamber of Commerce with their expo to be held April 24 and 25. The theme of the expo is Shaping the Future Together.

The Expo provides businesses the opportunity to promote themselves and the event includes entertainment and food.

Victim Services has partnered with the Chamber for the expo to promote the services they provide to the community.

Council agreed this project would be of benefit to the town.

“I think it is good for us to promote the town as much as we can,” said Coun. Brian Godlonton.

Council also agreed to donate $150 to West Country Outreach School, which will be presented as an award to a deserving student.
