She has authored and co-authored several books and her photographs have been widely published.

In her introduction in the book, Beauty Everywhere, which she dedicated to Fred Schutz, Pearman recalls being raised on afarm in the Rimbey area.

“Although our family did not have monetary wealth, our childhood was richly blessed by carefree hours spent wandering thewoods, exploring wetlands, building tree forts and riding the hills on horseback.”

Pearman said the family was fortunate to have self-taught scholar and world traveler, Fred Schutz, as a close family friend.

“It was the time that we shared with him –rambling the hills, listening to stories, studying the stars and learning about thewonders of nature—that sparked in me a sense of awe for the earth and her creatures. With Fred’s inspiration andencouragement, I also became interested in photography and writing.”

After leaving Rimbey, Pearman moved on to graduate from the University of Alberta and later assumed the position ofbiologist at Ellis Bird Farm.

“I have enjoyed being at the helm of this world-class organization for almost three decades.

Pearman’s photo essays focus on the beauty and diversity of Alberta, especially Central Alberta.

“In each column I have tried to share my own stories as well as interesting tidbits and little-known but interesting factsabout what makes our wild neighbours so fascinating,” she said.

Pearman hopes the short essays in her book inspire readers to marvel at the many wonders of the natural world and tospend more time outside, and, most importantly, to see beauty everywhere.
