Rimbey local arrested on outstanding warrants

Police respond to verbal altercation in Bluffton

This week, Rimbey RCMP detachment responded to 55 calls for service. These files included but are not limited to, seven break and enters, three theft related offences, six impaired drivers, three cases of criminal harassment and six files of disturbing the peace.

This week Rimbey RCMP charged two drivers with impaired driving related offences.

The first driver was reported by a concerned citizen when they noticed an intoxicated person was leaving a local drinking establishment and feared they would drive. Police attended and located this person sitting in their vehicle getting ready to drive off.

Not only were they intoxicated beyond the legal limit, they were also found to have a suspended license and be bound by a probation order, and have four previous impaired driving convictions. The second driver was stopped in Rimbey after making a run to the liquor store for more alcohol. This driver refused to provide breath samples.

Police received a report of a loud verbal altercation at a house in Bluffton. The concerned neighbour had heard some very loud yelling between a male and a female and feared the fight would soon become physical. Police rushed to the residence, but found the fight had already been broken up by the time they arrived. A calm and collected mother advised her two teenage children had gotten into a fight and she dealt with them.

This week Rimbey RCMP arrested Rimbey local, Craig Oliver on outstanding warrants. Oliver was wanted on 17 outstanding charges and was held in custody for a bail hearing. Mr. Oliver currently has 49 criminal code charges before the courts, spread across seven RCMP detachment areas in central Alberta. He was released from custody on cash bail as ordered by a justice of the peace.
