The Mounties operating out of the Rimbey RCMP detachment have had a busy couple of weeks.

In between July 28 and Aug. 10, 2022, the officers in the detachment received 93 calls for service both in town and in the surround area.

On the roads, RCMP officers handed out nine tickets, responded to five car accidents and four vehicle-versus-animal collisions. The officers also responded to 14 suspicious people or vehicle complaints and five impaired driving or failure to comply with mandatory alcohol screening complaints.

Dealing with criminal matters, the officers responded to four cases of mischief, four cases of break and enter, seven theft cases and three cases of fraud or extortion.

In non-criminal matters, the Rimbey RCMP responded to calls for service for five mental health related calls and conducted four well-being checks in the two week period.

The Alberta RCMP regularly encourages the public to report suspicious behavior so that they may step up patrols in a given area.

Rimbey’s RCMP detachment can be contacted at 403-843-2223 for non-emergency situations. For emergencies, dial 911.

If you wish to report a crime but remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.P3Tips.com or by the P3 Tips app available on both Apple and Android devices.

In addition to the updated RCMP statistics, Sgt. Pierre St-Cyr, the commanding officer of the Rimbey detachment, is inviting members of the community to a town hall meeting on Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Rimbey Community Centre.
