Rimbey RCMP responded to 40 calls for service in this week. Highlights include drugs, theft, stolen vehicles and other serious matters.

Breach of court conditions

On Friday night, just after the midnight hour, an alert officer patrolling Rimbey observed a suspicious truck and trailer carrying a Rhino side-by-side UTV pull into town and park at a local business. When the officer checked the driver of the vehicle it became apparent that things were not as they should be. The subsequent investigation led to the man being arrested for breaching court conditions he was required by law to abide by and for possessing stolen property. The truck, Rhino and trailer where all stolen and were related to a house break and enter in the Breton area. Police also seized two loaded firearms from the vehicle. The driver, a 32-year-old man, a resident of Stettler, remains in custody awaiting court to deal with 22 criminal charges.

Search for youth

On Saturday night, police spent most of the night searching for a youth who was reported missing by her family. Later, the young person came home from a party that she had snuck out of the house to attend. Fortunately, the person was safely found but this was an unnecessary incident that could have been avoided. Please talk to your children and ensure they understand the seriousness of misleading the police and how their lack of judgment a-ffects countless other people.

Charges laid

Several more folks were charged for failing to abide by court-imposed conditions. A 28-year-old man, a resident of Ponoka, was charged for consuming alcohol. Other local chaps were charged with similar offences.

Man being pursued

RCMP across central Alberta continue to pursue 31-year-old, Aaron Olson, who is wanted for serious offences that he has allegedly committed in Rimbey and Red Deer. If you know of Olson's whereabouts, please contact police immediately.

Attack at bar

Police are investigating a serious assault stemming from an attack at a local bar when a man went into the bathroom to use the facilities. The victim was treated at hospital. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. Of course, alcohol was a contributing factor.

Stolen truck recovered

On Wed., Feb. 12, Rimbey RCMP members recovered a stolen white Ford F150 near the Aurora Hall west of Leedale. The truck had been taken from a residence in Red Deer where a break and enter occurred. It is believed that the truck had been in Rimbey around 2:30 that morning. The truck had oil company decals on the doors.
