CUMMINGS

On June 8th, 2015, our dear mother, Alice Marie Cummings passed away at the Rimbey Continuing Care Centre.

She enjoyed 89 years of a life filled with farming, camping and card playing. She was born in Rimbey on March 30, 1926 to William and Mary Trautman and raised on a farm south east of Rimbey. She was the third oldest of 8 children. Alice attended school at Symond Valley and Potter Creek. After finishing school she then worked as a waitress in Edmonton and Calgary, returning back to Rimbey to work in a cafe owned by Lawrence Calkins, where she met and married her soldier boy, Leonard (Bud) Cummings on Jan.06, 1946. They raised a family of six on the farm west of Rimbey.

She was an active member of the Potter Creek Ladies Club. After selling the farm they moved to Red Deer, where Mom enjoyed bowling, travelling and playing cards.

In about 1995 when Bud's health failed they returned to Rimbey. Alice is survived by six children: Ken (Ely), Sandra (Pete) Washkevich, Fay (Cliff) Chappell, Randy (Darlene), Diane (Ron) Menge, Leonor (Roger) Hammer, fifteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, two sisters in Calgary, Irene Stephenson and Pat Praud.
