Betty Joyce Louise Peabody, of Rimbey, Alberta, passed away on Saturday, February 18th, 2017 at the age of 85 years.

Betty was born May 20th, 1931 in Watrous, Saskatchewan, she was the daughter of the late Casper and Dora Evenson. She spent her childhood in Watrous. She trained as an L.P.N and started her career at the Rimbey Hospital. She met her husband Lorne and married him November 6th, 1954 in Watrous, SK. They moved to Sylvan Lake Alberta and started their life together. She was a homemaker and was busy raising five kids. Betty was an active part of the community, and was recognized in some circles for the best homemade bread, and butter tarts ever. Betty and Lorne and John made the move to Rimbey Alberta in 1977, and became owners of the Rimbey Golf course. She became known for her chicken and the Flapper Pie she served weekly to the members of men's night golf league. She was an active member of the Anglican Church throughout her life. She volunteered and was the first to cook, when bake goods were needed.

Betty is predeceased by her son John Jacob Peabody of Rimbey, and her son-in-Law Norman Walter of Kimberley, BC.

Betty is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lorne Walter Peabody of Rimbey, AB; one son, Grant Peabody of Rimbey, AB, and three daughters, Jane Walter of Kimberley, BC, Jill Desjarlais and her husband Tim of Olds, AB, and JoAnn McKenzie of Didsbury, AB. Her sister Joan Clark of Ottawa, ON. and her brother Robert Evenson and his wife Paulette of Tisdale, SK. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held from the Church of the Nazarene in Rimbey, Alberta on Friday February 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend David Holmes officiating. Interment of Betty's cremated remains took place in the West Haven Cemetery.
