STUART

Daisy Evelyne Stuart (nee Kenney) of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Leduc Extendicare on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the age of 94 years.

Daisy was born on the family farm on March 9, 1922 to Pat and Eva Kenney, growing up with five brothers and six sisters. She was united in marriage to Derril Stuart on June 5, 1941, and after they were married for six months, Derril joined the army. As the army posts changed, they had moved several times including to: Calgary, Wainwright, Kingston, Ontario and Rimbey, to name a few. As the years went by, their family size increased as their five children were born: Gordon, Gerald, Linda, Evelyn, and George. Daisy was kept busy sewing clothes for the children and quilts for their family's use. She learned how to knit and crochet, and made some very beautiful doilies, blankets, sweaters, hats, mitts, and scarves. In 1969, Derril and Daisy settled in Rimbey where Daisy joined the C.W.L. and St. Margaret's Catholic Church Choir. As their children left home and were married, Daisy had more time to do some of the things she enjoyed; such as, growing bountiful gardens and beautiful flowers, especially violets. At one time, her grandchildren were amazed when they counted all the violets in her gardens and there were over 150 of them! Once they were in full-bloom, Daisy would often take them to the hospital for the patients to take pleasure in as well. Daisy and Derril were able to enjoy their retirement together, and in their leisure time they enjoyed the outdoors, did a little traveling, and went on a few camping adventures. Daisy often helped Derril with his work and woodworking projects, but she remained faithful for many years to the many activities that she enjoyed in the community; as well as to her love for flowers, crocheting, sewing and knitting. Daisy's grandchildren, and now her great grandchildren, will forever cherish the beautiful treasures Daisy has made.

Daisy will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her two sons, Gordon Stuart of Wetaskiwin; and George Stuart of Calmar; and her two daughters, Linda Mayr of Warburg; and Evelyn (Roy) Prentice of Devon; as well as ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sister, Helen (Bob) Cook of Gull Lake; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. Daisy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Derril in 2011; her son, Gerald in 2010; her grandson, Corey Mayr; in addition to five brothers and six sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Rimbey with the Reverend Father Les Drewicki, Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Bluffton. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Daisy's Memory may be made directly to the charity of one's choice.
