KROSSA

Daniel James Krossa of Rimbey, Alberta, better known by everyone as 'Dan' or 'Danny', passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Bentley Care Centre, Bentley on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the age of 60 years.

Dan will be remembered for his caring nature, sense of humour, positive outlook, hard work and willingness to help others. He was always there for his friends and family, and always put others before himself. Dan was very much a family man, making many memories with his wife and two children. Spending his whole life in the Rimbey area, he knew just about everyone, and if he didn't know you, he made a point of introducing himself as "Farmer Dan", "The Tree Guy", or "the tall, good-looking one". Dan's sense of humour will be missed, as he treated everyone equally; giving everyone a 'hard time', as he would say. He was a friendly, outgoing guy with a smile for everyone. He was always positive and could brighten up anyone's day. Dan enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends, playing pool, going for coffee (although he drank tea instead), playing with his kids, and dancing with his wife. He was well-known for his work ethic as he worked many jobs over his short lifetime. In addition to farming, Dan drilled water wells, was a derrick hand, built trusses, did maintenance at the Lodge, and ran a hydrovac rig, but he was most known for painting, shingling and cutting trees. He was very good at everything he did and took a lot of pride in his work. Dan was a very generous person; any time anyone needed a hand, Dan was there. His community service included volunteering for the Rimbey Fire Department, sitting on the Forshee Hall Board, a short membership in the Rimbey Lions Club, and involvement with the Historical Society and the Beatty House. For many years, Dan was a dedicated volunteer with the Safe Drive program on New Year's Eve. He was a long-time blood donor and an organ donor. He also assisted with many fundraising events for various organizations. Throughout his journey with dementia, although he lost mental and physical capacity, Dan retained his sense of humour and remained a caring person, and a loving husband and father.

Dan will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife, Brenda; his son, Jason Krossa of Rimbey; and his daughter, Michelle Krossa of Eckville. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his mother, Annie Krossa of Rimbey; and his sister, Beverly Dorey (Ernie Hudon) of Swan Hills, Alberta; as well as many extended family members and close friends. Dan was predeceased by his dad, Henry in 2007.

An Informal Gathering of Family and Friends was held in Dan's Honour at the Peter Lougheed Community Centre, Rimbey on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Dan's Memory may be made directly to the charity of one's choice. Condolences to the Krossa Family may also be expressed by e-mail to:
