Jean

Mrs. Jean Lillian Hopper passed away at the Rimbey Continuing Care Centre on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the age of 88 years. Jean was born on August 17, 1926 at Bentley, Alberta. She was the daughter of George and Gertrude Beddoes of Bentley. Jean grew up and attended school in the Lockhart district and later in Bentley and Olds College. In 1950, Jean married Sidney Hopper of the Benjamin district and they began their farming life together. She was an active member of the Benjamin Ladies Club as well as the Rimbey Art Club. Over the years, she painted many landscape pictures for her friends and family as well as selling her paintings province wide. In 2002, Sid and Jean moved to Rimbey where their beautiful yard, home and garden was a great source of pride and enjoyment for Jean. Jean is survived by her two children, son Ron (Linda) and their daughters, Carmen (Brad) Hopper-Minta and Angelee Hopper, all of Rimbey, and daughter Susan (Colin) Blount and their daughters Amber, Bree (James) Bradbury, and Samantha; and two great-grandchildren Rylan and Aubrey Bradbury, all of Calgary. Jean was predeceased by her husband Sidney in 2005. Funeral services were held from the Church of the Nazarene in Rimbey, Alberta on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Sandra Franklin-Law officiating. A private family interment service followed at the Bradshaw Cemetery at Leedale, Alberta.
