JESSIE CLARE KINLEY
Jessie Clare Burns was born in Homeglen, Alberta, to Robert William Amos Burns and Gertrude May (Stelfox) on November 27, 1931 and passed peacefully on February 23, 2016 at Foothills Hospital, Calgary. She attended school in Homeglen, Ponoka, Lacombe and Edmonton (University of Alberta). While a schoolteacher in Wolfville, she met Fred Kinley, who she married on December 22, 1955. Four cherished children and a hardware store followed. Their retirement from Kinley's of Berwyn brought them to an unspoiled property in the foothills near Bentley and pets: Highland cattle, cats, deer, chickadees and Jackie the dog.
Jessie was a woman ahead of her time in her commitment to conserve our resources and preserve Alberta's natural environment. Those who knew her well will remember her voice, her ability to connect with young children, and love of and stewardship of the great outdoors.
Jessie was pre-deceased by her parents, siblings Jim, Jack, Mary and Betty, and husband of almost 60 years, Fred (2015).
She will live on in the hearts of children Marigold (Bob) of Edmonton, Myron of Bentley, Carillon of Vancouver and Trevor (Nancy) of Invermere and grandchildren Graham (Marianne) and Megan of Invermere, along with sisters in law Evie, Viola, Martha, Madalene, Louise and Zunny, and brothers in law Bob "Smitty" Smith and John Kinley, plus many beloved nieces and nephews. We will be thinking of her as she walks through the wildflowers identifying birdcalls, or, perhaps, sings to Fred as he relaxes with a newspaper.
The family thanks Dr. Bal and the staff of Foothills Hospital, Calgary, for their professional care of Mom and support of the family before she passed peacefully, two days after a stroke.
The memorial service was held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 3 pm at Bentley United Church. Jessie will join Fred at Fairview Cemetery in Lacombe in the springtime.Condolences may be made by visiting www.wilsonsfuneralchapel.ca
