Mr. John Robert "J.R." Wilson of Eckville, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the age of 86 years. J.R. was born on April 12, 1925 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. He later settled in Alberta in the Hespero area, near Eckville, where he was raised. In 1948, J.R. met and married Joan Marie Maddox and together they had seven children. J.R. resided and worked in and around the Eckville area. J.R. will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children: Ted (Kathy) Wilson of Vegreville; Barb (Albert) Brandl of Winfield; Randy (Dorothy) Wilson of Mayerthorpe; Terry (Shirley) Wilson of Rimbey; Dale (Shannon) Wilson of Red Deer; and Brad (Debbie) Wilson of Drayton Valley; and his grandchildren: Brent (Glenda), Ryan, Amy, Matthew (LeeAnn), Jerit, Lee, Nicole (Gavin), Derek (Jennea), Breanne, and Adam; as well as two great grandsons, Landen and Kypton; and two great granddaughters, Brittney and Makenna. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother, Allan (Margaret); and four sisters: Mary Airey, Pauline (Grant) Hooey, Florence Wyzykoski, and Neva Knudson; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. J.R. was predeceased by his son, Richard in 1967; one brother, Fred; and three sisters, Olive Anderson, Helen Hunley, and Darlene Wilson. A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of J.R.'s Life was held at the Eckville Community Centre, Eckville on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Leanne V. Hall officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer.
