RIDDIOUGH

Mr. Ken Riddiough of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre ~ Area Three, Rimbey on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the age of 83 years.

Ken was an adventurous, quiet, and carefree spirit. He enjoyed many activities including: hunting, ice fishing, curling, bowling, golfing, floor curling and playing cards. Ken was born on September 12, 1928 to George and Thressa Riddiough in the farmhouse at Homeglen. He married his first wife, Thelma in June, 1949 and they were blessed with two sons; Keith born in 1954, and Kevin born in 1955. The family moved to Calgary in 1956, where Ken worked building valves for Crane. He then worked for several years as a custodian for the Calgary School Board until Thelma passed away in 1970. Ken and the boys then moved back to the farm in 1971. Ken was united in marriage to Jean Boyce in 1973, and they continued to farm, garden, card party and social dance. In 1985, they moved into Rimbey, and in 2009 they relocated to the Parkland Manor. Ken was very artistic and proud of his paintings. He decided to bring his brushes out of retirement after Jean passed away in February, 2011. At that point he called his paintings, 'modern art'. Ken enjoyed and appreciated all the family and friends who gave him a phone call or came to visit. As he would say, "thanks for coming".

Ken will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his two sons, Keith (Barb) Riddiough of Carstairs; and Kevin (Claire) Riddiough of Rimbey; his stepdaughter, Lorna (Alvin) Johnson of Rimbey; and his stepdaughter-in-law, Gwen Boyce of Rimbey.
