Vernon Irvin Oak of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the age of 89 years.

Vernon will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his cherished children: Vern Oak of Red Deer; Cliff (Linda) Oak of Red Deer; Colleen (Tom) Parks of Lexington, Kentucky; Karen (Brian) Graham of Red Deer; Faye (Wayne) McQuaid of Innisfail; Rita Collins Lee (Jim) of Stauffer, Alberta; Evan (Lyla) Collins of Atikokan, Ontario; and Fern Collins (Robb McIntyre) of Fort Saskatchewan; as well as thirteen treasured grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Vernon was predeceased by his beloved wife, Genevieve in 2013; his parents, Olaus and Anne; his step-son, Dale Collins; two step-grandchildren, Nesta and Allan; and four brothers and one sister.

A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Vernon's Life was held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Rimbey on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Schultz officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. Interment followed the Memorial Service in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey.
