Dear Editor,
It is so often said that chivalry is dead
But if one wears on one’s head a big hat of red
It catches the eyes
Of a couple of guys
Right there at the very next table.
We ordered our dinner, each thought theirs a winner
The chef’s no beginner, we’re not getting thinner.
We were quite a large bunch
That day at our lunch
We stayed as long as we were able.
When we went to the till to pay off our bill
We got quite a thrill
We were told it was nil.
In gratitude
Christine Hedges
