Bluffton chuckwagon driver wins 1st at the Grande Prairie Stompede

The upcoming season has started on a high note for Obrey Motowylo, a Bluffton chuckwagon driver, who won the chucks crown at the Grande Prairie Stompede.

Motowylo, driving the H & E Oilfield Services Ltd. Outfit won the $25,000 first place winner’s cheque as well as a new GMC Sierra Pickup Truck at the Grande Prairie Stompede held May 27 to May 31.

Motowylo said he had a good feeling about the race.

“I wasn’t totally surprised to win,” he said.

Taking a few minutes to chat about the race by phone while getting a hitch put on his new truck, he voiced his gratitude for his horses which he said ran very well.

He also gave credit to his outriders Chance Flad and Shawn Calf Robe.

“It was a very good way to start and it was nice to win a truck.”

The second stop for the WPCA pro tour was in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from Thursday, June 4 to Sunday, June 7.

The tour then goes to Medicine Hat, then High River, finally ending up at the Ponoka Stampede which will be held June 25 to July 1.
