Fun gymnastics meet attracts good crowd

Samantha Kercher from Rimbey Gymnastics Club took part in the club’s annual rock ‘n roll fun meet held March 8 in Rimbey.

A total of 300 spectators showed up to watch young gymnasts showcase their talents at a Rimbey Gymnastics Club Annual Rock ‘n Roll Regional Fun Meet.

As well as gymnasts from the Rimbey Club, the 90 gymnasts who registered for the meet held March 8 came from Fairview, Stony Plain, Lacombe, Carstairs and Sundre.

The meet went well, said board chairman Jill Bellows.

“This was our third annual meet and we are looking forward to next year,” said Bellows.

Male gymnasts competed on vault, bars, floor, parallel bars, rings, mushroom (pummel horse) and girls competed on vault, bars, floor and balance beam.

All gymnasts received a medal at the fun meet according to their overall score.

Rimbey Gymnastics Club has 125 registered gymnasts ranging in age from three to 16.

Alena Dubielew and Brenda Krossa are the coaches.
