Despite the rain that fell on the weekend of July 15 and 16, the annual Junior Golf Foundation of Gull Lake Pro-Am tournament was a huge success.

Eamon McCann, who owns the golf course with his wife, Carla said $16,400 was raised through the silent and live auctions held July 15.

“We were hoping for around $15,000 so that was even better. It was unbelievable,” he said.

Bidding was brisk at the silent auction and a painting of the Gull Lake golf course by local artist, Kaylee Motley brought in $850, and a book by hockey great Bobby Orr, raised $800.

Each professional golfer was also auctioned off as part of the pro am game held Saturday.

Professionals attending the event included Sandra Palmer, Sam Randolf, Adrienne White, Laura Witvoet, Brandon Regnier, DirkAyers, Paul Devenport and Shelby Chrest.

“All the pros had a great time and are already talking about next year,” said McCann.
