Midget Renegades off to good start in Provincials

Rimbey Renegades are 2 and 0 in the provincial tournament defeating Vulcan Hawks 11 - 1 Thursday and La Crete Lumberjacks 7-1 Friday.

The opening ceremonies were held Friday.

with Host Captain Hudson Scott and Zone 4 Captain Zeth Eckert. Rimbey Mayor Rick Pankiw is looking on.

Eckert.The Rimbey Nordstrom Dental Midget Team is hosting the 2018 Hockey Alberta Provincial Championships.

Eight teams participated in the tournament to vie for the gold medal.

The opening ceremonies for the Provincials held in Rimbey were held on Friday at 6 p.m.

Mayor Rick Pankiw was the master of ceremonies for the ceremonies, and Brian Sutter, a former NHL player and coach was the keynote speaker.

The first game of Provincials was well attended. On Friday, the town was encouraged to wear team jerseys to show their hockey spirit.

Provincial championship host locations were award in mid-December, and since that time, organizing committees in communities across Alberta have been busy securing local sponsors, organizing opening ceremonies, confirming teams and schedules, ordering souvenirs and players gifts and arranging accommodation.
