After months of planning and hoping and good old-fashioned hard work Hawk Tail Brewery has finally opened its doors.

“It’s been quite a project,” said Randall Vandenhoven, one of the partners. “It’s been demanding and rewarding.”

But now the planning and the scheming and organizing is behind them and the taproom, open on Dec. 10, will remain open for business seven days a week. Scheduled hours may change after Christmas.

The taproom is licensed through Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission as a community hub in which beer will be sold. Food options will also be available and non-alcoholic beverages can also be purchased.

The popcorn machine will be operational and appetizer options such as pretzels and cheese and mixed nuts will be available.

Customers are also welcome to order food which can be delivered.

The family friendly taproom offers games and cards and has a cozy atmosphere with big windows and vaulted ceilings for all to enjoy.

Hawk Tail Brewery offers four flavours of beer.

Summer ale, which has a lighter alcohol content, amber ale, which is a deep red and strong flavour, pale ale, which has a somewhat bitter taste and is higher in alcohol content and rye milk stout, which is sweet and tastes slightly like coffee will be sold.

“We’re excited to bring the new business to Rimbey,” said Vandenhoven.

He said the town has much to offer.

“The amenities here are amazing.”

Hawk Tail Brewery Ltd. is located at Suite 102, 6311-52 Street, in the same building as the Nordstrom Dental Clinic. The large parking lot will accommodate 21 vehicles.

The brewery is to be a commercial scale production that will distribute packaged beer across the province in cans and kegs.

“We will produce more than Rimbey is able to drink,” said Vandenhoven.
