On Aug. 8, 12 lucky Bluffton West 4-H Beef Club members went on an exciting trip to Nova Scotia. This was the second part of the exchange and was held in Nova Scotia from Aug. 8 to 16. The Nova Scotia members visited Alberta in July.

The eight days in Nova Scotia were packed full of fun. We went to Upper Clements Amusement Park, an early Acadian graveyard tour, a turkey farm, a fancy dairy farm, saw the Musical Ride, which was very elegant, and the Fisheries Museum where we saw a 23-pound lobster. We also saw where the Bluenose II is being rebuilt, The Ovens (a series of caves on the edge of the ocean), and an amazing beach with white sand. A tour on a lobster boat was very interesting for a group of prairie kids

We went camping at a beautiful campsite where we tried delicious seafood and went canoeing/swimming. We stayed in the Annapolis Valley, a fruit producing area of the province so we ate delicious blueberries and huge raspberries.

To round things off, we went to the 4-H exhibition day where we saw tractor driving skills, 4-H members showing off their projects, a bake-off, horse pulls, oxen pulls, tug-o-war, ATV races, and a 4-H parade. We also participated in a large parade across town with our 4-H exchange group.

Our 4-H group had a great time and can’t wait to see each other again.
