The Bluffton West 4-H Club held their organization meeting on Sept. 4. Our new executive includes President Kevin Steeves, Vice-President Cameron Stout, Secretary Clinton Steeves, Treasurer Emily Steeves, Historian Michelle Von Gunten and Reporter Jill Tennant.

Our weigh-in was held on Oct. 19 at the Bluffton Vet Clinic. After a small rodeo, the calves were weighed and ear-tagged. Ryan Gilcrist attended the weigh-in and gave us judging pointers. We judged a pen of steers and heifers and Ryan then placed the class. Thanks, Ryan. At the tour meeting we had a contest of what the average weight of the steers with Heather, Tori and Tanner Clement winning. Were they sitting with each other?

This year we went to the CFR in Edmonton on Nov. 7 and 8. It was a blast! John Curtis drove the club there in a Greyhound bus for the weekend, which made the ride fly by.

The Rodeo was very entertaining!

Dean Edge, our local tie-down roper made it to the finals and we were able to see him perform.

We spent the second day at Farm Fair and at the end of the day, the Simmentals were the grand prize winners. We also explored Dodge City where we saw lots of good finds. We have a winner in the club! Congratulations to Stan Goetz for winning the horse trailer. Pink looks good on you!

Our next meeting will be held on December 4th at the Hoadley Hall.
