Chamber to spruce up entrances

TREENA MIELKE/Rimbey Review

Rimbey’s natural setting makes it a picturesque little town and a local organization wants to add to this charm.

The Rimbey and District Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the town, plans to purchase signs and banners that may be in place this summer.

At its regular meeting May 17, chamber members agreed to proceed with looking into purchasing signage and banners.

President Jackie Stratton said $18,000, of which $9,000 has been contributed from town dollars, has been set aside for the signs and banners.

“We are looking at plasma cut signs, similar to the ones they have in Eckville, Rocky and Lacombe,” she said. “And businesses will have an opportunity to have their name on a sign.”

The design of the signs has not yet been determined, but will be unique to Rimbey and the surrounding community.

The signs will be placed at the four entrances of town and may also be placed throughout the downtown core.

The banners are to be colorful and appropriate for the season and type of activities that are occurring. Banners will be changed three or four times a year.

The chamber is open to ideas and suggestions regarding the banners and the signs.
