Even though more than 100 golfers have registered for The Rimbey FCSS golf tournament to be held this Thurs- day (Aug. 20); there is room for more.

Executive director Petty Makofka said no one would be turned away who wants to take part in the fifth annual Texas scramble tournament to be held at Spruce Haven golf course.

“I have ordered extra carts,” she said. “It is pasture golf and a fundraiser and it promises to be a lot of fun.”

This year a photo booth has been introduced as an added attraction.

The day will begin with a breakfast at around 7:30 a.m. followed by a shotgun start for the tournament.

Perry Jamart, from Street Heat Inc. (specializing in high rods and muscle cars) will be the celebrity golfer. A 1968 Acadia and a 1956 Chevy will be on display.

MLA Jason Nixon will be in attendance as well as representatives from the town and Ponoka County.

A caesar hole, a margarita hole, and lots of prizes will add to the fun.

Dollars raised through the golf tourney will go toward family services such as family counseling, healthy families, young parent outreach, the early childhood development coalition and the community wellness group. Funding will also go towards a new program called ‘welcome new Canadians’.
