Game On Outdoors fundraiser exceeds expectations

A fundraiser, held April 10 at Forshee Community Hall, to raise funds for a worthy cause was a huge success.

A fundraiser, held April 10 at Forshee Community Hall, to raise funds for a worthy cause was a huge success with plenty of ‘wow’ moments too special to be forgotten.

“It was a great success,” said Sandra Von Hollen from Game on Outdoors. “It exceeded our expectations.”

Game On Outdoors laid out the red carpet for their guests of honor, the youngsters who they sent to Cenalta Camp and those who were featured on a segment of The Dimestore Fishermen, a television fishing program.

“The kids actually walked on the red carpet,” said VonHollen. “That was very cool for them. They were very excited.”

Prior to coming to the event and walking the red carpet, the youngsters were picked up in a limo outside The Game On store.

Kole MacAusland, Clayton VonHollen and Garrett and McCoy Groves were featured on a segment of The Dimestore Fishermen. Kaleb Simpson, Isaiah Ukranichuk and Brad Zotich were filmed while at the Cenalta Camp.

A segment of the Dimestore Fishermen featuring the local youth was shown at the fundraiser.

Bear Baker, who runs Wildhorse Mountain Ranch, a girls’ horse ranch located near Rocky Mountain House, spoke during the event.

“He totally wowed the crowd with his message,” said VonHollen.

This year, Game On Outdoors will send four boys to Cenalta Camp and four girls to Wildhorse Mountain Ranch. They will also pay for eight spots for people suffering with posttraumatic stress disorder. The $6,800 raised will pay for the camp fees. The additional $2,000 will provide camping gear for the participants.

Fundraising online auctions sponsored by Game On for the camps are ongoing. To access the auctions online go to all Canadian online auctions on Facebook.
