Garden expert Cullen to visit Home Hardware

People with a green thumb or those who simply wish to have one will have a chance to hone their gardening skills today (Tuesday, May 31) if they drop by Rimbey Home Hardware for a visit with Canada’s best known gardener.

Mark Cullen will be at Home Hardware from 4 to 7 p.m., said owner Stan Luchak.

“He will stop and do a demonstration and discussion about gardening information, lawn care and the latest in gardening tools. It will be great to have him here.”

Cullen is a best-selling author with more than 400,000 books in print in Canada. His latest book, The Canadian Garden Primer, An Organic Approach, is available at Chapters/Indigo, independent stores and Home Hardware.

His website, www.markcullen.com answers up to 10,000 gardening questions. He also writes a weekly blog and posts a weekly podcast every Wednesday.

Cullen is the spokesperson and horticultural consultant to Home Hardware Canada, Golfgreen fertilizers and lawn seed and green Earth Garden products.

He is a volunteer spokesperson for SHARE Agricultural Foundation www.sharefoundation.org. Canada Blooms Flower and Garden festival www.canadablooms.com and the Composting Council of Canada www.compost

He interacts with the public regularly as a host of a 60-second green feature on 680 News every Thursday, Friday and Sunday and is co-host of Canada AM’s weekly Gardening segment with Jeff Hutcheson every Friday morning at 8:40 a.m.

He also has a weekly gardening column in the New Homes and Condos section of the Toronto Star’s Saturday edition and writes a gardening column for Home at Home magazine.

His outstanding contribution to help feed the hungry through Plant a Row, Grow a Row earned him the Queen’s Jubilee medal in 2003.
