Grads and high school students recognized

Awards and scholarships were an exciting part of the Rimbey graduation evening held at the Rimbey Community Centre, Sept. 21.

Awards and scholarships were an exciting part of the Rimbey graduation evening held at the Rimbey Community Centre, Sept. 21.

The Grade 9 award, sponsored by Rimbey Junior High School Student’s Association, went to Ben Trenson.

The Grade 10 award, sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion, went to Trevor Weenink.

The Grade 11 award, sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion, went to Jessica Lohmann.

The Valedictorian Award, sponsored by Keyera Energy, went to Erica Trenson, who also won the Student’s Association Award, sponsored by the Rimbey Senior High School Student’s Association.

The Governor General’s Medal, sponsored by Chancellory of Honours, awarded to the student who achieves the highest combined average in grades 11 and 12, went to Erica Trenson. Trenson also won the top mark in social studies 30-1, sponsored by the Rimbey Veterinary Clinic; top mark in physics 30, sponsored by the Rimbey Catholic Women’s League; the Gordon Rude Memorial Award, for the top mark in Chemistry 30; top mark in French 30, sponsored by The Co-operators Insurance and the Will Hoar Math Science Award.

The Lindberg Higher Education Award, presented to the student who has achieved the second highest average in Grade 12 and is enrolled in a post-secondary institution, sponsored by the Lindberg family, went to Leanne Buist. Buist also won the top mark in Math 30-1, sponsored by the Rimbey Value Drug Mart; and the top mark in math 31, sponsored by MNP; and the top mark in biology 30, sponsored by Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre. She also received the John Dale Parry CA Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the John Dale Parry Memorial Fund.

The Female Athletic Extracurricular Award, sponsored by ECRIM Agencies, went to Tory Boyes, who also won the girls’ top mark in physical education 30, sponsored by the Jean Cranston Memorial. Boyes won the All-Around Student Award, sponsored by Rimbey Kinsmen Club.

The Male Athletic Extracurricular Award, sponsored by Rimbey Auction Mart, went to Joel Deal and Scott Maconochie, who also received the boys’ top mark in physical education 30, sponsored by Wilson’s Funeral Chapel.

The Student’s Association Award, sponsored by the Rimbey Senior High School Student’s Association, went to Alannah Albach and Erica Trenson.

The Student Against Drinking and Driving Award, sponsored by Bev Nicholas, went to Monique Baker.

The Greatest improvement Award, sponsored by the staff of Rimbey Medical Clinic, went to Aaron Cameron.

The Eva Tona Bandoni Estate Award, sponsored by the Eva Tona Bandoni Estate, which goes to a student entering a recognized institution that deals primarily with the academic upgrading of the student, went to Sydney Madu.

The Alberta Teacher’s Association Education Award, presented to students enrolled in education or related training, sponsored by the teachers of Wolf Creek Local No. 3, went to Bailey Towle, Jeana Freerkson and Noelle McMurray.

Top marks in computer processing 30, sponsored by Oberhammer Funeral Chapels Ltd., went to Cassidy Valstar.

Top Mark in math 30-2, sponsored by the Rimbey Eye Care, went to Lauren Franklin.

Top mark in math 31, went to Leanne Buist and Ryley Hohn.

Top mark in English 30-1, sponsored by Sheldon Ibbotson, went to Miranda Morton.

Top mark in English 30-2, sponsored by John Hull, went to Aaron Cameron.

Top mark in drama 30, sponsored by the Rimbey Co-op Association, went to Jessica Tratuman and Alannah Albach.

Top mark in food studies 30, sponsored by Donald McFadyen, went to Kara Cech.

Top mark in work experience 35, sponsored by the Rimbey Chamber of Commerce, went to Angie McWhirter and Tory Boyes.

Top mark in social studies 30-2, sponsored by the Gull Lake Golf Course, went to Jesse Goodspeed.

The School Spirit Award, sponsored by Rimbey Junior/Senior High School, went to Daniel Staples.

Students receiving the Alexander Rutherford Scholarships, sponsored by the Alberta Heritage Fund, went to Jennifer Anderson, Tory Boyes, Ryley Hohn, Erica Trenson and Cassidy Valstar.

The Health Care Scholarship, sponsored by Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, went to Miranda Morton.

The Wolf Creek Award, sponsored by Wolf Creek School Division, went to Monique Baker and Get Wongchiasit.

The Wolf Creek CTS Award, sponsored by Wolf Creek Regional Division, went to Colby Weatherald.

The Bentley Seed Cleaning Plant Scholarship went to Ryley Hohn, who also won the Lions Legacy Scholarship.

The CTS Merit Contractors Association Award went to Garret Gault.

Bailey Towle won the Halvar C. Jonson Scholarship, sponsored by the H. C. Jonson Scholarship Fund.

The Grumbach Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the S. Grumbach Memorial and Ed Grumbach, went to Darien Smawley, who also won the Agricultural Award sponsored by Rimbey Agricultural Society. Smawley also won the Skeels Family Agricultural Award.

Garriet Gault won the Casey Howard Effort and Enthusiasm Recognition Scholarship.

Noelle McMurray won the Leadale Lady’s Dale Ewanchuk Memorial Award and Jeanna Freerkson won the Chris and Betty Harvey Memorial Scholarship.

Cassidy Valstar won the Volunteerism Award sponsored by the Rimbey Christian Reform Church.

The Dale Ewanchuk Memorial Award, in memory of the beloved CTS teacher at Rimbey Junior Senior High School, went to Scott Maconochie.

The Rimbey Co-op Award went to Ryley Hohn.

The Grad 2012 Committee Award went to Jesse Goodspeed, Jaret Matthews, Noelle McMurray, Tye Munro and Jasmine Weenink.

The Student of Merit Award sponsored by the Knights of Columbus went to Kaylee Bignell and Alysha Lindley.
