Grant helps Bentley Museum fund expansion

.

The Bentley Museum has received another donation to their new building fund.†

On July 27, former Bank of Montreal employee Marg Martin presented a $1,000 cheque to Bentley Museum volunteer directors Doris Bargholz, Kristen Dickau and Ralph Scarlett.

The inside of the new 40’ X 60’ metal clad fully insulated and heated building is just being completed with electrical and painting. More display room will mean more artifacts on display instead of in storage. It will be equipped with a washroom inside the building.

The museum now has the main Pico House display area, the 36’ X 40’ ag building display area out back, and soon a whole new bigger building to arrange displays in for the public to enjoy.

Admission is always free. Regular summer hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays with admittance on the holiday Mondays as well. Memberships are available.

Martin has applied and been successful getting a grant from the BMO Volunteer Grants Program many times to help out the local rural museum with some of their projects. She explained it is accessible every other year and she has faithfully applied to help out the museum with $300 in 1995, $500 in 1996, $800 in 1998, $1,150 in 2000, another $1,050 in 2004, $1,000 in 2007, $800 in 2009, and now $1,000 this year. It is a program that bank employees or former bank employees can request funding from for community projects. Martin explained the amount depends on how many applications are submitted for consideration.

Any and every donation to help out the small town volunteer-run museum is greatly appreciated by the museum society.
