Hot Air Affair and expo to return

The Rimbey Chamber of Commerce’s Hot Air Affair and expo held in Rimbey last year survived its trial run and will be back this year.

Chamber president Jackie Stratton said Expo 2012 and the Hot Air Affair were deemed a great success, although expenses outweighed revenue by $640.

Stratton expects the event to be even bigger and better than last year, and is hopeful revenue will increase accordingly.

“We are booking pilots and booths now and we already have 15 balloonists. Last year we had 11.”

The Hot Air Affair is to be held May 10 and 11 and the expo will be held May 10 to 12.

The event, last year, proved popular and attracted a good crowd.

Last year’s trade show, held at the Rimbey Community Centre, was the first to be held in Rimbey for several years.

The hot air balloon rallies were free to the community and included a glow (balloons are tethered and burners fired to light them up).
