Karate students clean up town

.

Submitted

Karate students with the Central Alberta Martial Arts Centre showed initiative and leadership in organizing a community clean up recently in both Sylvan Lake and Rimbey. The students along with their parents traveled along main streets, back roads and school yards, picking up a truck load of garbage in effort to help preserve the community and planet.

The project was part of the Karate School’s monthly life skills theme that focused on volunteer activities that would help “Heal The World.”

In addition to organizing this community clean up, students exchanged other thoughts and ideas during their karate training, on the meaning of courtesy and respect and how it applies to oneself, to others, and to the environment.

The students of Central Alberta Martial Arts Centre will continue to implement more community service projects in effort to further develop their leadership and collaborative skills as both a community member and martial artist.
