Local author Hugh Bayne unveiled his latest publication Poetic Reflections during a book signing last week at the Rimbey Pharmasave making it his fifth, with possibly more to come.

“The latest book is called Poetic Reflections, because everything in it is a reflection of in some way of something,” Bayne said. “The idea behind this is a collection of a lot of things over a period of years and I put them together in a book. These are reflections of my personal life in relation to other people.”

As a former freelance writer, Bayne has been scripting material for many years with his specialty being poetry. His latest work comes on the heels of three of his four previous books, all of which feature poems from himself or as a collaborative effort with other poets.

His first, titled The Best of Bayne and Friends, came about as a result of trying to sell his work on an individual basis when he thought it might be wiser to put them all together in one publication.

That effort was followed by a biography of his father who settled in Saskatchewan during the 1920’s after arriving from the United States and examines life of the prairies during the pioneer era.

His third book, published in 1995 titled Hoodoo You Think We Are, also features poets from Alberta while his fourth book Strolls of a Poet, is a further collection of works from himself and others including noted poet Tim Cusack of St. Albert.

Copies of Bayne’s latest book are available at Pharmasave.
