The classical duo KEVLEX

If you like classical music, we have a treat for you. The Beatty Heritage House Society is honoured to be hosting Los Angeles-based “KevLex”, a music duo featuring Kevin on classical guitar and Alexis on violin.

Alexis graduated from the prestigious Pepperdine University in 2011. She has been playing the violin since the age of eight, and currently performs with the Santa Monica Symphony.

Kevin has been playing guitar for nineteen years. Growing up in Winfield he began his training with local musician, Edwin Erickson; then continued with widely known guitarist, Ben Tobiasson. While he was attending a music camp in Montana, Kevin’s playing caught the ear of Christopher Parkening, one of the world’s preeminent virtuosos of the classical guitar. He invited Kevin to study with him at Pepperdine University, which Kevin did for three years.

The repertoire of KevLex is drawn from ancient and folk traditional music, the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical periods, and modern music. The selections are transcribed by the talented duo for their instruments.

Alexis and Kevin have toured Western United States, Canada, and Scandinavia with their music. We are fortunate indeed to have these talented musicians appear in Rimbey.

They will perform at the Beatty House on Thursday, June 25, beginning at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at Stationery Stories and Sounds and, seats permitting, at the door. See the posters around town, or call Florence at 403 843-3443 for more information.
