Lots to see and do at Bentley’s Main Street Park Christmas event

Bentley’s Main Street Christmas event on Dec. 3 saw lots of people in attendance this year to enjoy a variety of different activities to get into the holiday spirit.

This is the third year the event was held outside. Because of COVID-19, the event was held outside the last few years, so the Town of Bentley decided to keep it that way.

Barb Carson, community services manager for the Town of Bentley, said even though it was cold on the day of the event, 110 kids came out to see Santa.

There was also 500 cups of hot chocolate given out and 45 elves, businesses and organizations volunteered to support the event. Support came from Bentley, Lacombe and Lacombe County, Rimbey and Sylvan Lake.

There was fun for the whole family, including the visit with Santa, late night shopping, a fire to keep warm and horse drawn wagon rides, which saw over 200 people take part in.

“It was a fabulous outside event with lots of smiles and laughter. Santa is looking forward to coming back for this event next year,” said Carson.

Carson said this year was neat as people could register and get a number to see Santa, so they didn’t have to wait in line in the cold.

“If they were number 15 and they could see Santa was on number two, they could go downtown for a minute, they could go stand by the fire, they could go get their name put down to be in line for the wagon rides,” she said, adding that they also registered people for the wagon rides.

The event is held the first Saturday of December every year.
