Mandy’s Fashions is raising money again this year for the Rimbey Hospital through a men’s underwear drive.

The store will donate $2 per sale of men’s Saxx underwear to the hospital.

In the past they’ve raised over $300 to go towards the hospital for whatever it may need.

“We run that through the whole month of November. Originally the idea was to promote it for Movember, but we wanted to make sure that the money is staying locally in our community, so we choose to send it to the Rimbey Hospital instead of sending it to prostate cancer,” said owner Mandy Swanson.

Every year many participate in Movember by growing moustaches to raise awareness of various men’s health issues, and some businesses may take part in donating a portion of their funds towards things like research.

Swanson said they participated one year in raising money specifically for prostate research through the cancer clinic in Red Deer, but would like to promote what’s in Rimbey, keeping it local to the community.

“I think we need to make sure that we promote what we have in our community. The hospital provides a ton of jobs and as citizens of this town and community we all use the hospital.”
