Miss Teenage Central Alberta is vying for the title of Miss Teenage Canada and will travel to Toronto to compete in the pageant later this month.

Anna Buchanan, 17, from Lacombe is gearing up for the challenge.

“I am beyond excited to be heading to Toronto as an ambassador for Alberta to compete for the title of Miss Teenage Canada,” she said.

The young contestant is a firm believer in the importance of finding one’s inside beauty and being the best one can be from the inside out.

“I want to continue to promote my platform by helping others to realize that there isn’t just one definition of beauty. I believe that living a balanced lifestyle allows individuals to aspire for greatness and achieve their dreams and goals. Beauty comes in all different forms and I want to help others to realize their worth and potential.”

Buchanan has put a great deal of time and effort into raising funds for Free the Children, and is working towards raising funds for a school in Kenya.

Miss Teenage Central Alberta was born and raised in Lacombe and is the youngest of six children.

She works at Lacombe Ford and Lacombe Chamber of Commerce.

Buchanan received her title as Miss Teenage Central Alberta Feb. 9 and will compete in the National competition July 19.

She has enjoyed the experience being crowned has allotted her and is grateful for the support she has received.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me and continues to support me on my journey. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of those around me (including) everyone from my friends and family to those who have helped sponsor me and have donated funds to Free the Children,” she said.
