Kids in Rimbey will have a new piece of playground equipment to enjoy soon as the Rimbey Lions Club are nearing completion of the installation of a merry-go-round at the Lions Park downtown.

“We’re putting together the final piece of our playground project. There are two other parts here and this is the third of an approximately $60,000 project,” said Lions past president Alex Waldron. “I think the kids will really like this one. It’s a climbing merry-go-round that can handle about 35 kids at one time.”

Manufactured in South Korea, it last week and installing plans were underway immediately, thanks in large part, to the efforts of many.

“Basically, all or our volunteer projects are paid for through fundraising such as serving of food at auctions and other events,” Waldron said. “We received a $29,000 grant from the province that we had to match and with the help of volunteer labour and equipment, the help of the community and the Town, we should have it up soon.”
