New pastor moves to town

Mark Shultz is pleased he and his family has decided to make Rimbey their home and he is looking forward to serving as pastor

Mark Shultz is pleased he and his family has decided to make Rimbey their home and he is looking forward to serving as pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church.

Shultz replaces Pastor Al Lewis behind the pulpit.

The amiable pastor, who comes to Rimbey from Devon, spent a year in Rimbey as a vicar while training at the seminary and no doubt will see some familiar faces in the congregation.

“When I worked here under Pastor Al I got to know the community quite well. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the culture. I’m very much looking forward to being part of this community.”

Prior to being a pastor, Shultz worked as machinist. He believes the change in vocation was the right one.

“People encouraged me (to go into ministry) but I always said no. But now, this is where I want to be; where I should be,” he said.

Shultz is married to Tamara and the couple has four children; Miranda, 21, Adeene, 19, Charlene, 17, and Nathan, 15. Their oldest daughter lives in Calgary.
