Plenty attend Bentley show

.

A new committee of Revmasters Car Club members were organizing/hosting the 14th annual Kroozin’ West Bentley Show & Shine for 2011.

Despite threatening weather in the morning when competitors are wondering whether to drive to a show or not, there were 150 entries in 18 classes on Aug. 6.

Committee chair Rick Park said they almost ran out of room to park entries and he was pleased with the large turnout.

Once again the show wouldn’t go without the help of many volunteers and donors.

Marble-based trophies with a mini gas pump mounted on each end were presented to class winners this year, much to the delight of many who had not won too many trophies.

All registered participants were given ballots to determine winners in each of the classes except the Mayor’s Choice, chosen by the mayor, and Best of Show, chosen by the hosting committee.

Spectators were allowed to vote for their favorite vehicle and pick People’s Choice.

Winners of each class follow:

Best In Show: the 1934 Ford of Jim Karasek from Red Deer.

People’s Choice by popular vote: the 1969 Plymouth of Danny Johnson from Bentley.

Park said that next year the committee might have to look at expanding the parking area if interest remains as high and entries continue to increase.
