Poppy Campaign underway

The Rimbey branch of the Royal Canadian Legion reminds everyone of our upcoming Poppy Campaign.

Rimbey Legion President

The Rimbey branch of the Royal Canadian Legion reminds everyone of our upcoming Poppy Campaign.

In doing so we would like to make you aware that the funds raised through the kind generosity of people during the 2009 campaign was used to hold our annual veterans’ dinner, support those ex-service men and there dependants with some medical appointment transportation cost, hospital comforts while in the care of the hospital.

We were also able to support the Ponoka Air Cadet Corps, which has several Rimbey young men and women among its members.

A donation was also made to the long-term care unit of the Rimbey hospital for equipment that we felt would assist the safe, secure and comfort of some ex-service men or their dependents and our seniors in general.

We would like to let the citizens and business community of Rimbey and surrounding area know that any funds raised during the 2010 Poppy Campaign will be used first to assist any ex-service men and their dependents (from Canada, Commonwealth and Allied countries) living in our area and then elsewhere.

Some of the funds will again be used toward donation to the Ponoka Cadet Corps, Rimbey hospital, Meals on Wheels and Seniors Drop-In Centre in support of our community and its youth and seniors.

On behalf of the membership of the Rimbey Legion and our Poppy Campaign chair Barbara Patey, thank you to all who have supported the legion in the past and those who will support in the future.
