Rimbey 4 H club has been very busy these past couple of months.

Our sewing group met the first weekend in January and made drawstring bags. We held a vote to decide how to display our projects, since sewing is new to our club. We voted to have them on display in May, when we have our Beef Show and Sale.

Our Rabbit Project members also met in January. They made their rabbit’s transport cages and next are going to be working on posters to teach about the healthcare of their rabbits.

On January 15 we had a Ponoka district Multi Species Judging. It was lots of fun. This took place at the Rimbey Co-operators Agrim Centre.

On Jan. 22 we had our 4th meeting at Last West Hall. We cleaned the hall for community service after their Annual Wild Game Supper. We did some public speaking activities. Our Leaders had to make sure that we had at least started our speech because public speaking was just around the corner.

When we were done doing our public speaking activities we had Dr.Jas from Bluffton Vet services do a presentation to help us learn how to keep our 4 H calves healthy. We all give a huge thank you to Dr. Jas, especially since she was also on-call all weekend!

On Feb. 4 we had our club public speaking at Forshee Hall. Everyone did great! It was fun to hear all of the different topics. Our winners for Juniors were Aevyn Giesbrecht, Ellie Anderson 2nd place and Willow Smith in 3rd place. For Intermediate Sierra Brand 1st, Emily Giesbrecht 2nd and Laci Hofmann 3rd. Seniors, Chase Hofmann won 1st, Cali Hofmann 2nd and Roman Peter 3rd. The first and second place winners went on to Zones. Aevyn Giesbrecht and Sierra Brand will continue on to Districts now, which is in early March. Thanks to our Judges, Sponsors, Leaders and Parents for organizing!

On Feb. 9 we finished up our tire recycling.

On Feb. 18 we had a Fun Day. Members were invited to have pizza and go bowling in Rimbey.

We finished up our month with an Interclub Showmanship and Ring Clinic at Anchor D Ranch.

That’s it for now, but I can promise you the next couple months while we get ready for our Show and Sale will be jam packed! Until then, take care!
