The Rimbey Curling Club will be hitting the ice again this winter.

“We did decide to go ahead with our season,” says Rimbey Curling Club President, Kathy Pfau.

Pfau says the Club will be practicing “COVID conscious curling.”

The Club’s new COVID-19 safety precautions include enhanced daily cleaning, adding extra markings to the curling ice to help curlers keep social distanced, and reducing the capacity of the viewing area and lounge significantly.

Although space will be reduced, the seating area and lounge will still be available.

This season the Club is putting bonspiels on hold, although there is the potential for mini, local bonspiels in 2021.

The Club will be running five leagues that are available for those 10 years to 80 plus years in age. This seasons schedule is as follows:

• Mens league on Monday evenings;

• Ladies league on Tuesday evenings;

• Mixed league on Wednesday evenings;

• Seniors league on Thursday mornings;

• And Juniors league on Thursday evenings.

The Club hopes to have the ice in by Oct. 26, 2020 and the season will start Nov. 2, 2020.

“We are optimistic and are looking forward to a fun and safe season in Rimbey this winter,” says Pfau.
