Students to perform: Rimbey high school students are gearing up for their performance of The Lion

Rimbey high school drama class is hard at work completing rehearsals for their production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.

The students have been working hard and teacher Shauna Murdoch is excited about bringing the play to the public.

“It was my favourite childhood play,” she said.

Costumes for the play have been rented from Rosebud Theatre and are very authentic.

Stage manager Krissy Meinema said rehearsals have been going well.

“It’s been a long haul, but the kids are really into it,’ she said. “Everyone is loving in.”

Some of the props for the set which were used in the play Peter Pan have been remade for this year’s play.

The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe is a fascinating tale that continues to enjoy popularity on a global scale.

It has been adapted as a major motion picture, an animated TV movie, a live-action TV serial and a play.

The Lion, the Witch and the wardrobe was the first of seven Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis.

The book did not gain immediate popularity, but over time it became a favourite in the literary world of fantasy stories for children.

The Rimbey high school production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will be held as a dinner theatre at the Peter Lougheed Community Centre April 24 and 25.

Tickets may be purchased at the school.
